Amazon Redshift: New Serializable and Snapshot Isolation Level Support

Amazon Redshift, AWS’s data warehouse solution, now offers two isolation levels: Serializable and Snapshot Isolation. These features allow Redshift to handle transactions with higher efficiency. Serializable Isolation enforces strict serializability for safer transactions but may lead to failure if the result can’t map to a serial order. Snapshot Isolation supports high concurrency and allows successful completion of concurrent modifications on different rows of the same table.

Serializable is the default option for provisioned clusters, while Snapshot Isolation is the default for serverless Redshift clusters. These new features are available across all AWS regions where Redshift operates, enhancing your ability to manage structured and semi-structured data.

AWS Resilience Hub: New Features

AWS Resilience Hub continues to improve its capabilities. It provides a centralized platform to define, validate, and monitor the resilience of your applications. Now, Resilience Hub supports Amazon ECS, Amazon Route 53, AWS Backup, and AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (DRS). Additionally, Terraform is now integrated as a source to upload your applications, increasing the number of services protected from potential disruptions.

Another exciting update is the Resilience Score. This score combines operational recommendations and policy compliance, providing a comprehensive assessment of your application’s resilience. Daily assessments are automatically performed on new applications, ensuring your operations are continuously protected.
